Something Old . . . . .

Dsc05748

The last of the Studio Calico 5th anniversary challenges asked you to use something old, a stamp that is new, something borrowed (scraplift using a former SC designer's gallery) and blue washi.  I saved this challenge for last because it scared me -- I never ever stamp on my layouts - what if I make a mistake?

But if you complete all 5 challenges, you have a chance to win the entire HeyDay collection -- and that's pretty strong incentive.  So I buckled down and gave it a shot.

I chose this layout in Emily P's gallery.  It just caught my eye as I was looking through layouts in the different galleries.

But of course my layout doesn't look anything like the one I chose for my scraplift.

basic grey paper and chipboard, freckled fawn washi (blue and green), simple stories sticker

For something old, I found the orange paper in my scrap pile.  I used a decorative blade on my trimmer to give it a wavy edge and I was off an running.  But I made a mistake, ruined the picture I had chosen originally and had ink splotches on my orange strip.  I ended up putting the edge I had trimmed off to get the wavy edge over the larger strip using pop dots to cover the ink spots.  I really liked the dimension I got.

The blue and green washi is from Freckled Fawn, but the yellow is from a dollar bin at Walmart.  The flower and dragonfly stamps also are from a set I found in the dollar bin at Walmart.  You just never know where you will find great supplies.

This isn't my favorite layout and I don't think I'll be stamping on my pages again soon, but it's nice to know that I can do it -- and that mistakes aren't fatal.
